Crystal chandeliers are suspended from the high-beamed ceiling in the Waldorf Astoria’s posh stunner of a lobby, all dark wood, tufted leather and antler mounts (but of course – it’s Park City). Help yourself to complimentary coffee and tea, find a chair fireside and declare it a late-start day on the slopes. The resort’s dedicated Frostwood Gondola is your year-round link to Canyons Village Base, and just so happens to be North America’s only chairlift with heated seats. After an afternoon on the mountain, treat your ravenous crew to après ski at Powder, making a mental note to come back later for dinner. The kitchen staff has perfected the art of seasonally-inspired modern mountain fare, which somehow tastes even better thanks to those stunning views of the slopes. The summer season opens up a few more options, like patio tables overlooking the pool and courtyard, and Scoop Sweets & Grill, offering poolside ice cream, sorbet, gelato, BBQ and a full bar. Just wave down a server from your lounger or VIP cabana and order it up. If you’re feeling exceptionally motivated, check out the weekly class schedule for the fitness center, complete with yoga, cycling, kickboxing and Pilates – plus cardio and strength circuit training. Then reward yourself with a visit to the spa – it’s truly spectacular.

The beautifully appointed suites give you endless options in terms of space and layout. Choose from one-, two- and three-bedrooms, two-level one- and two-bedrooms, the two-bedroom Waldorf Suite and the three-bedroom Superior Suite. All are equipped with oversized soaking tubs, high-end Viking kitchen appliances, granite countertops, multiple fireplaces (the three-bedroom has five!). And each residence has a washer/dryer so you can keep all those gaiters, ski socks and base layers clean and dry for the next day. The Waldorf Suite is 2,100 square feet of wow, with gorgeous hardwood floors, unique artwork and incredible views of the Wasatch Mountains and Snyderville Basin from three separate balconies.

When you’re ready to venture beyond the resort, a daily shuttle takes you to the Park City Base area, Deer Valley Resort and historic Main Street shops and restaurants. The largest ski resort in the U.S., Park City offers far more than just skiing/snowboarding. Save a day for dogsledding, a sleigh ride dinner, or bobsled rides at the Utah Olympic Park (15 curves at 60mph and 4Gs!). Or spend an afternoon tubing at Gorgoza Park, where the littlest tubers get their own hill. Take full advantage of the summer season with the (thankfully downhill) Historic Park City Bike Tour, that’s focused on the area’s fascinating mining history.
