Between the impressive dining and rejuvenating spa scene, the ski-in/ski-out Grand Summit believes vacation should be a true escape. Tucked into the heart of Canyons Village with all the convenience that comes with being right at the base, it’s ready to cater to your every whim – from ski shops for new gear, to ski school for a lesson or two. Round up gaiters, gloves and helmets, match them with their rightful owners and shoo your crew out the door early to make the most of your day on the slopes. Fear no cold (until you jump off at the top, anyway) – the Orange Bubble Express is the country’s only heated chairlift and it’s less than 100 feet away. Return triumphant and head for après ski drinks and appies at Red Tail Grill, followed by a much-needed soak in the outdoor hot tub, and a stop at the sauna or steam room. (You may even come back for an encore soak later, once the stars are out in full force.) Book some quality time at the spa a few days into your trip, once you’re feeling the full effects of your overly ambitious ski run choices.
Individually decorated studios come equipped with a kitchenette, while the one- and two-bedroom suites all have a full kitchen with table service for eight, which may be slightly irrelevant once you’ve scoped out the onsite dining options. The Farm is not just a local fave – it’s been named one of Utah’s Top 10. Feast on fresh, locally grown ingredients from farms and artisans all within a 200-mile radius of Park City. First Tracks Cafe has you covered for breakfast on the fly – or go all out at the Canyons Alpine Breakfast buffet, starring everything from eggs Benedict to banana granola pancakes. Got a day that qualifies as “warm enough”? Hit the outdoor deck at Red Tail Grill, overlooking the ski beach.
Interested in balancing all those outdoor sports with some cultural events? Check out the impressive variety of live shows at the Egyptian Theatre, or go see the exhibits at the Park City Museum and Kimball Art Center. If you head east 25 miles, you’ll end up in Kamas, a quaint mountain town surrounded by pristine national forest. On the way back, stop at Jordanelle State Park, a hiking/biking paradise in the summer. Or you can get really crazy and brave the 18 banked turns on the alpine slide at Utah Olympic Park. Golfers will want to book a tee time at Park City Golf Club or Park Meadow Country Club (or both!). And shoppers can’t miss downtown Park City. Divide and conquer – put the non-shoppers in charge of lining up a table for dinner at one of the local standbys while you browse the boutiques. (Win-win.)
