Once everyone is well fed and warmly dressed, it’s time to hit the slopes. Check out the rental shops and ski school in the base village, or if you brought your own gear make a beeline for the Quicksilver lift to check out Peak 9’s popular blue runs. A world-class snow school with lessons for kiddos as young as three (they’ll be zipping down double-diamonds before you know it) and a daycare to look after infants and little ones up to five make Breck a prime destination for family ski trips. That, and the choice powder! With heavy snowfall, 187 trails and almost 3,000 acres you’ll never ride the same snow twice at Breckenridge. Once everyone’s snowed out for the day pick from the various aprés eateries at the base of the mountain, or mosey back to The Corral for a home-cooked dinner. If the kiddos are still amped, send them to the game room where they can play foosball, air hockey and ping pong while the grownups get in a soak at the hot tubs. A follow-up steam in the sauna is recommended for optimum relaxation.

Two-bedroom condo rentals at The Corral feature refined Western decor and a homey layout. Fully appointed kitchens boast granite countertops and a dishwasher. Apres options abound in the ski village, from artisanal wood fired pizza and upscale vibes at Sevens, to house-smoked barbecue and a family friendly atmosphere at Ski Hill Grill. Or take a break from the ski resort and explore Main Street’s boutique shopping and fine dining. History buffs will want to stop by the Gold Pan Saloon, “the oldest bar in Breck,” where you can have a drink in the same spot the gold miners did back in 1879 when the saloon opened. For a more romantic outing make a reservation at Hearthstone Restaurant, a converted Victorian home with classy decor and great mountain views.
