Nestled next to Maggie Pond near the base of Quicksilver Ski Lift, Marriott’s Mountain Valley Lodge was awarded the 2016 Certificate of Excellence by TripAdvisor (and rightfully so!). Once you get here, you can shift into full vacation mode. The stunning mountain views alone are therapeutic. Avoid long lines thanks to Charter Sports, the in-house rental shop. They’ll even store your gear overnight, so you won’t clutter up your condo with everyone’s skis, boots, boards and poles. After an adventure-filled day on the slopes tell the crew to change into swimsuits, have the kids grab towels and goggles, and head for the outdoor heated pool. Soak in one of the three outdoor hot tubs until you can feel your toes again while you socialize with fellow guests and get the inside scoop on the best runs. When it’s time to eat, recruit a little helper to set the table, then lay out side dishes and condiments and let everyone have at it. Still feeling energized after dinner? It’s never too late to get your cardio on at the fitness center. It’s open 24/7, so it’s ready when you are. Meanwhile, kiddos will have a blast in the game room, between ping pong, foosball, board games and more. Monopoly, anyone?
Studio and one-bedroom condos are 450 to 900 square feet and sleep four to six guests happily. Each suite has a fully equipped kitchen for when only a hearty home-cooked meal will do. Full-sized refrigerators have enough room for everyone’s favorites, and freezers perfect for storing dessert – popsicles for the kids (and a secret Ben & Jerry’s stash for the grownups). Don’t feel like cooking? Order room service and have a low-key night in. Browse the selection of DVDs at the front desk and let the kids each pick one. Play Rock, Paper, Scissors to decide which movie to watch first. Daily housekeeping is an added bonus, so you’re off the hook in that department.
Mountain Valley Lodge is just a six minute drive to Main Street Breckenridge’s exciting shopping, dining and nightlife. Stop by Canary in a Clothesmine for trendy, unique women’s fashion, then check out the sculptures and paintings at Breckenridge Art Gallery. When the stomachs start rumbling treat the crew to burgers and pizza at Downstairs at Eric’s, or head to Mountain Flying Fish for some sushi. Visit Crepes a la Carte for a variety of made-to-order options, from sweet Strawberry Nutella to savory BBQ Chicken. Ready for a grownups-only night on the town? Cecilia’s Night Club is home to Breckenridge’s biggest dance floor and is famous for their martinis.
Located at the base of the Tenmile Range of the Rocky Mountains and offering over 2,000 acres for skiing. The largest and oldest town in Summit County. Visit Main Street for restaurants that range from fast food to fine dining. There are several shops offering unique merchandise and souvenirs.
