There’s two things you’re really going to want for your family’s Aspen ski trip: ski-in/ski-out access and awesome outdoor hot tubs. Enter Timberline Condominiums. This condo resort is nestled next to the Fanny Hill run just above the ski village, with a spacious and stylish hot tub complex that has amazing views of the mountain. When you check in at Timberline you’ll arrive at lodgings that feel like home rather than hotel – and Snowmass Mountain is your backyard. On your first powder day take a short downhill stroll to Snowmass Village to check out rental shops and ski school – or if your crew brought your own gear just step outside, strap on your skis or board, and glide away down Fanny Hill to lifts that await at the base. If there’s newbs in your crew Snowmass Village is home to a renowned snow-school with world-class coaches. Got a tot with you? Head to the Treehouse Kids’ Adventure Center to check out lessons and rentals for lessons for ages 2 to 4. The Treehouse also has a daycare for infants and preschoolers with interactive alpine-themed play rooms. When you’re done riding for the day you can coast right up to Timberline. Have an après drink on the patio while you socialize with other skiers. When the crew starts getting hungry suggest dinner at the swanky The Edge Restaurant – right onsite – which serves genuine, hearty German cuisine, plus a solid kid’s menu. Feast on fondue and schnitzel and finish with strudel (duh) for dessert. Cap the evening by swapping ski jackets for swimsuits and making a quick dash to the lagoon-like hot tubs.
Each of the studios and one- to three-bedroom condos is clean, bright and tastefully-decorated. Studios have handy kitchenettes with microwave, mini-fridge and stovetop for whipping up snacks and simple meals, while larger units have fully equipped kitchens fit for DIY dinner parties. Sitting areas with comfy couches and flat screen TVs make a prime space for kicking back with the crew – most units have cozy gas fireplaces too.
There’s much more to Snowmass than 3,300 skiable acres and 150 miles of trails – from mountaintop yoga classes to guided naturalist snowshoe tours. During peak season Snowmass holds a weekly party celebrating the Norse god Ullr with delicious food, bonfire and s’mores, live music and night tubing. Want walkable dining options? The Snowmass Village area has over 100 restaurants with everything from sushi to steak.
