Owners at Club Wyndham purchase points at a home resort for use throughout Wyndham’s network of resorts.
Reservations at the home property can be made as early as 13 months in advance of arrival, and reservations throughout Wyndham’s other resorts can be made 10 months to 91 days prior to arrival. The number of points needed to make a reservation depends on the resort, season and residence type. Those with over 300,000 points become VIP members and receive discounts on certain reservations.
Owners who purchase Club Wyndham points on the resale market are not eligible for VIP status, but may otherwise use their points without restrictions.
Club Wyndham offers three separate ownership programs within its larger club.
Club Wyndham Select is standard Club Wyndham ownership. Throughout this guide, we will simply use the title “Club Wyndham” to refer to “Club Wyndham Select.” Owners in this program purchase a number of points at a home resort and receive a deeded interest at their Club Wyndham resort.
Club Wyndham Access is more geared towards exchange. Owners at Club Wyndham Access purchase a number of points within a collection of 42 resorts. In this program, owners do not have a home resort and instead may reserve at any Access Resort, as if it were their home resort. These owners may reserve 13 months in advance.
Club Wyndham Presidential Reserve is an exclusive program, available to Club Wyndham owners who have purchased over 1 million points at a Presidential Reserve Suite. Presidential Reserve Suites are available at a select number of resorts and showcase exceptionally luxurious accommodations. Members of Presidential Reserve may reserve 14 months in advance and are given a number of perks, available for a fee. Eligibility in this exclusive program is limited to those who have purchased points from Club Wyndham directly. Resale points are excluded.
Members of Club Wyndham (Select) purchase a set number of points at a home resort. Points are allocated on an annual or biennial basis depending on the ownership agreement. Reservations require a certain number of points depending upon the residence types and seasons available at the owner’s home resort. Residence types range from one to four bedrooms and seasons include Quiet, Value, High and Prime. Sometimes each continuous season is further subdivided into groups of weeks.
For example, during the first four weeks of the Quiet Season, it might cost 49,000 points to reserve a two-bedroom, oceanview suite. By contrast, it might cost 77,000 points to reserve that same two-bedroom during weeks 5 through 10 of the same season.
The reservation system is divided into a schedule with three categories based on how far in advance a booking is made. These categories include advanced reservation priority, standard reservation and express reservation.
ARP reservations are made at the owner’s home resort and can be booked 13 to 10 months prior to arrival. This period gives owners priority in making a reservation at their home resort. Only points from the current use year may be used to make a reservation within this window.
Owners may not use points borrowed from future use years or those banked from the previous year. Reservations made during the ARP period are limited to three-, four- and seven-night stays.
During the standard reservation period, owners can make reservations throughout Club Wyndham’s network of resorts. These reservations can be made 10 months to 91 days prior to arrival. During the standard reservation period, owners may reserve a minimum of two nights in the High, Quiet and Value Seasons. For reservations made in the Prime Season, owners must make a booking for three, four, or seven nights.
Additional points may be rented from Wyndham in order to complete a reservation during the standard reservation window. If a member only has enough points for a three-night stay but would like to stay for four nights, they may purchase additional points from the resort to be used that year only.
Express reservations are those made less than three months before arrival. Owners may make an express reservation for two, three, four, or seven nights. During the express reservation window, owners may borrow points from their next use year or rent points from Wyndham.
If an owner does not have enough points to complete a reservation, he or she may rent additional points from Wyndham. Points are typically rented at a price of $10 per block of 1,000. During the express reservation period, points may be rented at a discounted rate of $8 per 1,000. Owners may rent as many points as they own.
If an owner has 139,000 points, he or she may rent a maximum of 139,000 points each year or every two years, depending on whether points are replenished on an annual or biennial basis.
Points may be borrowed from the next use year for reservations made within 90 days of arrival. Owners may only borrow points during the express reservation period. If a reservation made on borrowed points is cancelled, these points will not be returned to the borrowed use year.
Points may be accrued in a credit pool and saved for up to three years. In this case, owners deposit their current year’s points for later use. Pooled points may be spent during the standard and express reservation period with a $39 service fee.
Internal exchanges within Wyndham’s network of resorts are possible during the standard and express reservation periods. To increase the likelihood of securing reservations at non-home resorts during peak and holiday seasons, owners may enroll in a rotating priority list up to 22 months prior to their intended arrival. Owners will be notified of their acceptance as soon as six weeks before the standard reservation period, or 11 and a half months prior to their stay. The rotating priority list allows owners to make a reservation at a non-home resort during the advanced reservation priority period. Once accepted, owners may use their regular usage points and must reserve a full-week. Owners may not borrow or rent points for bookings made through the rotating priority list.
External exchanges are handled by RCI, Interval International (II) and Trading Places International (TPI). To make an exchange, owners must deposit their usage points with the exchange company. All deposited points are valid for up to two years. Deposits are final and may not be transferred back to the Club Wyndham point system for use at the owner’s home resort.
Exchange options at each company will vary. For example, RCI requires that users deposit a minimum of 27,000 points.
Points used for reservations that have been cancelled will be reclassified as cancelled reservation points. Cancellations must be made 15 days prior to arrival in order to save the points. If a reservation is cancelled less than 14 days prior to arrival, these points will be forfeited. Cancelled reservation points may not be used for advanced priority reservations, saved in the point credit pool, converted into maintenance points, used on the rotating priority list or redeemed as rewards.
Wyndham offers VIP status for owners with greater than 300,000 points. Three VIP levels range from Standard VIP for those with more than 300,000 points to Gold VIP for those with greater than 500,000 points to Platinum VIP for those with over 1,000,000 points. VIP members receive discounts on reservations made two months prior to arrival during the express reservation period. Standard VIP members receive a 25% discount, Gold VIP get a 35% discount and Platinum a 50% discount.
Wyndham timeshares purchased on the resale market do not have access to VIP membership. Those purchasing a resale may use the point system in the very same way as those purchasing from the developer, with the exception that their points do not count towards VIP status.
